Dated February 22, 2016 at the Chancellery Building Putra UPM, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop opportunities for cooperation in the field of research and development and socio-economic demographics.

UPM was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris. While DOSM was represented by the Chief Statistician of Malaysia, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Hasan. The MOU signing was witnessed by Director of the Institute for Aging Research Malaysia (IPPM), Prof. Dr Tengku Aizan Hamid and Deputy Chief Statistician (Economy) DOSM, Ismail Yusof.

MoU signing between UPM and DOSM is one of institute Strategic Plan in line with the requirement of Research University (RU). This will benefits and contribute to the achievement of UPM Key Performance Indicators (KPI), as well as enhancing the strategic relationship between the university and government agencies.
