SERDANG, 15 and 17 Sept – A total of 24 participants consist of older persons and caregivers of aged care homes have joined the “Workshop on Handling of Autonomous Platform for Contactless Delivery for Older Persons”. The workshop was conducted for two days at the Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeingTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia. This workshop was organised by Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeingTM) and funded by Malaysia One Health Universiti Network (MyOHUN).
The objective of this workhop is to provide knowledge on contactless deliveries for older persons using autonomous platform. This is one of the approaches to prevent and lower the risk of COVID-19 infection among older persons and in aged care homes.
Autonomous platform is a platform that is capable of sensing its environment and operating without human involvement. Corresponding with the pandemic situation of COVID-19 that advises us to practice physical distancing and minimizes direct physical contact, the use of autonomous platform is very appropriate in order to achieve those measures as it implements contactless deliveries.
The workshop was held on 15 and 17 September 2020 and it is divided to two sessions where the morning session covers on theory while the evening session is to demonstrate on how to handle the autonomous platform. The project was led by Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Siti Anom Ahmad, Director of Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeingTM). She hopes that this workshop is able to give some exposure as well as to introduce modern technology to the older persons and caregivers of aged care homes.
