Assalamualaikum w.b.t and Greetings
Welcome and thank you for visiting the official website of the Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeing ™), Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Malaysia is experiencing a rapid increase in the older population, and projections by the Department of Statistics Malaysia showed that the country will achieve ‘aged nation’ status in 2030 when the percentage of older persons reaches 15%. The impact of population ageing is multifaceted and it affects every individual, both young and old, over the life course.
Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeing™), previously known as The Institute of Gerontology (IG), was established on 1st April 2002 and rebranded in 2015 by the cabinet to MyAgeing™. As a research institute, the focus is mainly given to multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research in gerontology and geriatrics, driving innovations in old age and ageing solutions to mitigate the challenges of an ageing Society. MyAgeing™ also offers both Master of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs in Social Gerontology, Medical Gerontology and Gerontechnology. Professional and community outreach is carried out via the Training and Education Resources on Ageing (TERA) committee and the Aged Care Experimental Unit (ACE). We welcome visitors to the Institute’s many laboratories to share the results of our work as well as ongoing efforts in the development of an integrated care complex.
I hope the information on this website will lead to further interaction and serve as a useful reference for interested parties. We look forward to feedback, suggestions, and ideas for future collaborations and partnerships.
Thank you.
WITH KNOWLEDGE WE SERVE
Yours Sincerely,
Assoc. Prof Dr. Rahimah Ibrahim
