Serdang, February 27 - The Training and Learning Resources Committee (TERA), MyAgeing™,
organized a course titled Healthy Nutrition for the Better Well-being of Senior Citizens in the
Training Room, MyAgeing™.
The course was delivered by Dr. Noraida Omar, Senior Lecturer from the Department of
Dietetics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM, who is also a Dietitian at the Elderly
Diet Clinic, Geriatric Medical Specialist Clinic, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, UPM.
Among the benefits of this course, participants can increase awareness and understanding of
healthy nutrition through medical nutrition therapy. Medical nutrition therapy is discussed
according to categories such as weight management, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes.
Through this course, participants can also apply the knowledge learned about balanced and
suitable nutrition to maintain optimum health conditions throughout the aging process for
themselves and their families.
Furthermore, this course also provides a special session of calculations including body weight,
Body Mass Index (BMI), body composition, body fat percentage, and health examinations for
participants. This session aims to help participants identify the most suitable dietary types for
their health needs. With the information obtained from these calculations, participants can make
better dietary choices and plan quality diets to improve their health and well-being in their daily
lives.
