Exhibition of Electrical and Electronic System Design Projects

SERDANG, February 16 – The Malaysian Aging Research Institute (MyAgeingTM) successfully organised a project exhibition for the course EEE4947: Electrical and Electronic System Design Project in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering. A total of 60 students participated. Students in their final year of Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering worked on this project with the theme of Malaysia as Aged Nation 2030 to develop engineering innovations for the elderly. Student groups presented a total of 12 project models. This is the second exhibition that has taken place since 2019.

The judges for this exhibition were elderly from neighbouring associations, and representatives from seniors' associations from around Universiti Putra Malaysia were also invited to attend. The judges were given the opportunity to test the product and become acquainted with the functions that assist the elderly.

"This type of project exhibition is very good to continue in the future," the judges said.

"Director of MyAgeingTM Prof. Siti Anom Ahmad stated that projects like this provide an injection of enthusiasm for students to continue to innovate and be creative in supporting and attracting students' interest in the field of gerontology.

From the exhibition, three winners were chosen. Group 1E won the project exhibition for the course EEE4947: Electrical and Electronic System Design Project. Sip with Ease: The Bedside Water Dispenser for Easy Hydration (H2O4U) is the project title. Group 1 C took second place: Caring O - Fall Detection with Automated Lighting is the name of the project. Group 2A took third place. The name of the project is SmartCare2U. These three winners each received a cash prize of RM100.00.

Meanwhile, Ts. Dr. Mohd Nazim Moktar, the Head of Gerontechnology Program at Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing, is the coordinator of the project exhibition programme for the course EEE4947: Electrical and Electronic System Design Project.
