SERDANG, 26 August – The Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeing®ï¸), Universiti Putra Malaysia, successfully organised the Umbrella Literature Review Workshop on 26 August 2025 at MyAgeing®ï¸ Training Room. The full-day workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills and a stepwise approach to conducting comprehensive syntheses of scientific evidence.
The session was delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Sajesh K. Veettil and Dr. Suresh Shanmugham from the School of Pharmacy, International Medical University (IMU). Dr. Sajesh shared his expertise in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, providing participants with hands-on knowledge of data interpretation and the use of online tools for evidence synthesis.
The workshop covered the fundamentals of meta-analysis, concepts and methods of umbrella reviews, demonstrations of search strategies using Rayyan, data extraction techniques, and the application of the GRADE framework to assess evidence quality. Participants were also guided through the final steps of synthesis and reporting, enhancing their research capacity in evidence-based practices.
The programme attracted 22 participants from diverse institutions, including researchers, academicians, and students. It also provided opportunities for networking and professional exchange.
