Serdang, 6 May – The Malaysian Research Institute on Ageing (MyAgeing®), UPM, hosted a two-day Workshop on Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis from 5–6 May 2025 at MyAgeing® Training Room. The hands-on workshop was attended by 42 participants, comprising postgraduate students and academicians from various institutions.

The workshop was facilitated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Charlotte Beaudart, an internationally recognized expert in public health and ageing with extensive experience in systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and network meta-analyses. It aimed to strengthen participants’ understanding of the systematic review and meta-analysis process and boost their confidence in applying its key steps in academic research.

On the first day, participants were introduced to the foundations of systematic reviews, including their significance in strengthening evidence-based research, an overview of key methodological guidelines, and the sequential stages involved in conducting a comprehensive review. The second day focused on meta-analysis techniques, where participants explored how to estimate the effect of individual studies, assign weights to studies, select suitable statistical models, assess heterogeneity, perform sensitivity analyses, and interpret synthesized results through hands-on exercises.
This capacity-building initiative demonstrates MyAgeing®’s continued commitment to fostering high-quality research practices and enhancing the analytical skills of emerging and established researchers in the field of ageing and public health.
