SERDANG, 13 April 2026 - The kickoff meeting for the “Bridging the Digital Divide: Enhancing Digital Literacy and Inclusion among Older Persons” project under the ASEAN Centre for Active Ageing and Innovation (ACAI) was successfully held at MyAgeing®, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The project, awarded under the ACAI 2025 Research and Innovation Grant, is led by MyAgeing®, UPM, and focuses on empowering older persons across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei through improved digital literacy and inclusion.
This two-year regional project helps older persons overcome digital exclusion by improving their ability to use mobile devices safely and confidently.
The initiative will be implemented through community-based training supported by local trainers, volunteers, and partners, using structured Digital Literacy Modules developed by MyAgeing®.
The meeting brought together all project members, including representatives from partner organisations Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Kongres Wanita Indonesia (KOWANI), with the participation of Dr. Myat Yadana Kyaw representing ACAI. Discussions focused on project coordination, implementation plans, and regional collaboration.
The team expressed strong commitment to advancing active ageing, lifelong learning, and digital empowerment in the region, and looks forward to continued collaboration with partners in Brunei and Indonesia in the upcoming phases of the project.
